It’s November, and while people everywhere are wrapping up warmly, at Agora Gallery we’re enjoying the inner glow we get from the publication of our contemporary fine art magazine, ARTisSpectrum, whose 32nd volume has just hit the shelves. You can get it at bookstores and other institutions around Manhattan, at Agora Gallery, or by mail – just subscribe. The latest edition is full of beautiful images, interesting artist profiles, and articles that will help you stay up-to-date on what’s going on in the art world.

The cover article focuses on the art and inspirations of Max Werner, whose images we were proud to present in a solo exhibition at Agora earlier this year. The article explores the complex elements that infuse his photographs and the paradoxical relationship between dreamworld and reality that gives each one its pioneering power. In addition, the Spotlight piece on Young Ran Jung throws light on the creations of another innovative and inspirational artist.

Artist Angélique Droessaert gives a vivid and energetic account of the time she spent in the South of France and the wonder of painting en plein air in Provence, surrounded by all the history of an area which has had such an influence on the history of art. By the time you’ve read this article, you might be considering booking a trip there yourself!

For inspiration closer to home, turn to The Therapeutic Power of Art to learn about how three artists have each, in their different ways, discovered the tremendous potential that art possesses to bring new hope and interest to a life overshadowed by difficulty or disease. Like The Humanitarians, this piece shows how artists can use their considerable talents and abilities – the uniqueness and value of which artists themselves sometimes underestimate – to help others and the world.

Volume 32 also sees the return of old favorites, including Studio Spaces, this time featuring Biddy Hodgkinson and her unusual workspace, Evoking the Muse, in which artists consider the impact that New York and exhibiting in this amazing city has had on their work and career, and ARTbeat, where artists from around the world share the secrets that make their city such a great place to visit for art lovers.

One way and another, there’s plenty to entertain, enlighten and interest in this edition of ARTisSpectrum! Enjoy.
